The sunsets and pool views are gorgeous, and the staff are really nice. Mystic Sands is small and basic, but cozy, with nature and clear blue water all around. You can spot lots of marine life from the jetty, rent kayaks, and paddle around a little island with a lovely view of the coral reef. It’s a great place to snorkel with whales, an experience I’d absolutely recommend. The food is really good, with some nice fruit, too. Wi-Fi is limited, and extra GB cost more. It’s not luxurious, but it has plenty to offer if you want to get a feel for Tonga. It’s also close to everything.

We loved jumping off the jetty and using the paddleboards and kayaks, and there’s a pleasant 60-minute return walk to a nearby hill. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the manager was very accommodating. Mystic Sands Vava’u has beautiful rooms in a peaceful, stunning setting, with great food and vegetarian choices. There are also good restaurants, bars, and cafes in town. It’s a little out of town, so hiring a car is worthwhile. We took a snorkelling and cave tour with Ricki, and Vava’u has some of my favourite snorkelling in the Pacific.

The beach house was lovely, and it had great amenities for kids too. Our hosts were wonderful and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. Mystic Sands made a great base for exploring Vava’u. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.

What made our stay at Mystic Sands Beach Resort so special was the Tongan staff. Their warmth and genuine care made us feel like family, and the whole team put thought into making everything comfortable and memorable. The location is stunning, with peaceful water and incredible views. From check-in through our reluctant check-out, I can’t say enough good things. Can’t wait to return! Robert
