Taşköprü Hotel

The reception staff were fantastic, which earned the hotel an extra star from me. But the suite my husband booked for one night, on my first visit to Adana, was a letdown. We live in a village two hours away, and the suite’s size and layout looked lovely, but it was dirty. The mirrors still had handprints, and the jacuzzi was stained with an old broken headrest. We cleaned and filled it ourselves before discovering it didn’t work. Reception sent someone to fix it. After half an hour, he said in Turkish to my husband that it should have been repaired long ago. That was disappointing since the jacuzzi was the main reason we chose that room. They gave us a complimentary dinner, but it didn’t really make up for the price difference for the room.

We didn’t stay overnight, but got a good impression of the rooms and the staff, who were very friendly and helpful. The road outside is fairly busy, so there’s some noise, though the windows are well insulated. There’s no covered parking. The AC was set to heat only, which was no use in the warm weather. The worst thing was the strong cigarette smell in the hallways, though it didn’t seem to reach the rooms much.

The location and the breakfast area on the hotel’s top floor were highlights, with a great view of the mosque and bridge. Breakfast was very good and varied, and my family’s room was great too. The bathroom was well built and insulated, the shower pressure was strong, and even the shampoo and gel were decent. I’d seen complaints about cleanliness and bathrooms, so I can only assume those issues have been fixed. There were a few small maintenance niggles: the card holder needed a paper wedge to switch on the light, one AC remote had no batteries, there was only one remote for two TVs, and some bed screws weren’t tight. They should fix those, but they were minor. Staff were consistently polite and helpful.

Breakfast was very good, with plenty of cheese and vegetables, and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly too. Internet was the only problem: it was very slow and had limited access in the room. We reported it to reception, but it wasn’t resolved.
