I enjoyed the holiday, but the places were dirty and the food choices were terrible.

My family, my brother and I stayed in Akyarlar from July 5 to 8, 2019. The rooms were old but clean, and they were cleaned every day. The pool was small but acceptable, while the beach had no sand. On the plus side, the pier made getting in and out of the sea easy, and the water was very clean. The rooms were conveniently placed around the hotel, close to the dining area, pool and sea. There were no lifeguards at either the pool or the sea. The kitchen was awful. Plates, spoons and forks were dirty, and although limited selection might be understandable for the price, the food quality was very poor. The drinks machines didn't work properly: coffee gave you water, or the lemonade button poured a different fruit juice. Even the water dispenser had to be changed after guests kept asking. There was no beer for one day, and earlier guests joked that it had been gone for over two days before that. The staff seemed fed up before the season was even halfway through. If you reported a problem, they told you to speak to the boss instead. There was almost no entertainment, just one volleyball game a day and a children's dance event in the evening. Thanks to the bar and children's activity staff, but reception staff were unfriendly. I've stayed at many 3-star hotels, and this one was last for value for money.

I booked five nights but left after just one. The dining hall had a foul smell every morning and evening, and the board used to collect plates and food scraps was stained on both sides and covered in flies. The pool bar was filthy too, like an underground tea shop, with a yellow leak at the bottom right of the coffee machine. It was a terrible sight. We found a much better hotel for the same price and enjoyed the rest of our holiday. It's a shame, because a little care and a few small changes could have made this place worthy of three stars. The owner seems to have just let things slide, as if to say, “Oh, that's how it is.” It's a mountain to look at, but a vineyard to look at.

My wife, our 2-year-old son and I were very happy with our stay, and we'll come again. The hotel has a magnificent view of Kos Island and is one of the few in the area with its own private beach. It reopened this year after being closed for three years, under new owners. They got it ready for the season in a short time, and a few small improvements have already been made. I'm a regular at another hotel run by the same family, so I'm confident they'll improve this one further. I don't understand the unfair reviews. Were some holidaymakers expecting a 5-star hotel and finding something they considered 1-star instead?

Don't bring children here. Families will regret it. Everything was filthy, and we couldn't find anything to feed our child. He also caught a germ from the pool, and we had a miserable time. They call it a coastal hotel, but there's no beach. The sea is rocky, gets deep quickly, and has a strong current, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't a strong swimmer. The rooms have no balconies, the minibars are empty, and there are only three or four shared clothes drying racks in the hallway for at least 20 rooms. This is an incredibly shoddy place, and I suffered here. Don't put yourselves through it. I thought about posting a couple of photos, but figured you'd be disgusted.
