Alanya Dreams Apart Hotel

This place was filthy and disgusting, with none of the things they said it had. I couldn’t stay the night.

The place felt shabby, and the management was poor. I wouldn’t book this hotel for a holiday.

The room we were given was on the ground floor, with three bins full of rubbish right outside the balcony. The smell reached the room. After paying on arrival, we found a ramshackle setup from reception onward: the bed, sofa, table and chairs looked thrown together. The bathroom still had dirt from previous guests, no soap or toilet paper, and we kept seeing spiders or cockroaches. The pillows and sheets were dirty too. We complained, and staff said they had brought clean sheets, but those had hair and stains on them. They brushed it off as normal after washing and said we were too fussy. We spoke to two people at the lobby. One said their shift was nearly over and promised to move us to a better room the next day, with arrangements to be made that evening. It seemed they were only trying to avoid a scene after work. The other person mocked us whenever we raised an issue, and nobody took us seriously. The pool and dining room are in the building across from ours. Breakfast is available, but only until 9 am. There’s a sign by the lobby warning people to wear a swim cap and shower before using the pool, but it felt meaningless given the state of the room. It made us wonder how often the pool and kitchen were cleaned. The hotel also had exposed electrical outlets and light sockets, which is especially worrying for families with children. They wouldn’t return the deposit, or even the money taken on arrival if you chose not to stay, and getting it back was an ordeal. We didn’t stay, but after leaving I couldn’t bring myself to eat for about a day because it was so dirty. I don’t know how it got a license. For health reasons, I think it should be closed and not reopen until it’s renovated and cleaned. It cost us a day of our vacation, though thankfully we found somewhere else and saved the rest of our limited time.

The kitchen was gross too. The pot was scratched and gray inside, and the kettle was greasy on the outside. The pillows smelled awful, and there wasn’t even a broom to clean the room. There were no tissues or toilet paper, and no cleaning had been done. The beds were terrible, and instead of a duvet they gave us a torn sofa cover. The air conditioner was really worn out, the cupboards hadn’t been cleaned, and the electrical wires were exposed. Cleanliness was basically zero. I got sick the day I arrived and I’m still sick. I’ve never stayed somewhere this bad. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have come. Just describing it makes me feel nauseous. Don’t waste your money here. Pay a little more and have a decent holiday.
