Hare Hotel

We ended up moving to another hotel, and I wouldn't come back to Hare Hotel. It felt more like a B&B than a hotel, and it's very small with no lift, which isn't convenient with little kids. The food wasn't a buffet: it was Turkish food, including a set Turkish breakfast with no choice. My kids ate boiled eggs every day, with no cereal or anything like that. One child had a number two in the pool, so it was closed for three days. For UK or US visitors, communication was difficult. Nobody spoke English well enough to communicate with guests, apart from Ali, who only spoke a little. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone from abroad, especially if you're not Turkish. It seems designed for locals.

The reception response to complaints was to make fun of us. The pools were really dirty, and although staff acknowledged our complaint, they never cleaned them. The food they call a buffet was nothing like a proper buffet, and the place felt as though it had been converted from apartments. It definitely doesn't deserve three stars. There are many other three-star hotels 10 km away that they should look at instead of putting people through this. Don't expect a proper holiday here. If you don't mind the food or pool being dirty and can sleep with huge mosquitoes on the beach, well, I don't know what to say.

We were happy to return for a second stay, and checked out today. The hotel has improved since our first visit and feels modern. It's not a five-star luxury place, of course, and people have different expectations, but I couldn't understand reviews calling it awful. That seemed exaggerated. The staff were friendly and helpful, and tried to sort out anything we raised. The food is fantastic, all home cooked, though breakfast could use a little more variety. Our room was spacious, with a few hangers in the wardrobe. The women's outdoor pool is private, very clean, and drinks are brought over regularly. Cake is served from 4-5 pm, but drinks can't be taken into that pool. A small buffet beside it might make service easier and let women enjoy cake time comfortably. The mixed pool, though, was a bit dirty, the one negative I can mention. The nearby beaches are deep and have strong waves, so they're not really suitable for swimming. We drove 15 km to Gazipaşa public beach, which was a little better and seemed very safe for children. The hotel suits people looking for a family atmosphere with food and drinks.
