Royal Ideal Beach Hotel

The room was clean and tidied every day, but the rest of the hotel was dirty and the food was awful, with the same things every day. I couldn't understand why leftovers were reused. Meals involved queues with rude Russian guests and unhappy staff. During our two-week stay the bar ran out of beer twice and spirits once. Staff seemed to find it funny when they hit drunk Russian guests. The pool wasn't cleaned until we complained, and white sticky foam got on our swimwear. After it was cleaned, sharp tiles cut my foot. Management wasn't much help when I complained.

We were upgraded to a sea view room when we arrived, and as a family of six we had a great holiday. My grandson is already asking if we can return next year. It's a budget hotel, not five-star, but I'd definitely stay again. There could be more rubbish bins around the pool. We asked at the shop for a bag and used it for our rubbish, then put it in the bin on the way back to the room. The food worked for us because we were willing to try anything, though I was surprised to see guests load their plates and then leave most of it after a few bites. The children's entertainment was good, and the staff worked hard to keep them happy. The daytime pool music was repetitive and loud, but that's how it is. We managed to communicate with the staff without trouble. Wi-Fi did have issues, though that didn't matter much to me on holiday.

The food really is bad, and hygiene isn't good either. Rooms weren't properly cleaned, just had the beds made. Staff seemed too young to care and didn't know how to look after guests. The on-site shop charges around 150% above the usual price. Go next door instead, where the help is friendly and courteous. All-inclusive or full board isn't worth it.

When I arrived, the hotel had only just opened, and I appreciated all the extra care. I booked the cheapest all-inclusive hotel I could find and was surprised by the professional staff, healthy food, and really comfortable mattress. From the balcony on the southwest side of the building, I could get some sun without tan lines. I'm planning to come back next year.
