Balsenler Hotel

We ended up here after deciding we didn't like the first place we'd picked for our vacation, and found this one within half an hour. They helped us quickly and gave us extra support since we were students. Mr. Kadir handled our issues himself from day one and tried to find solutions. The rooms were clean enough, though the furniture and wardrobes felt small. Breakfast was tasty, with a little buffet of fried items and other breakfast foods, and many products seemed natural. It takes about five minutes to get to the sea. The beach across the street was clean and quiet, with a few pebbles; farther toward the pier, the water got dirtier. Shops, cafes, restaurants, and markets are all close by. We were happy with it as an average seaside stay, as long as you aren't expecting luxury. Mr. Kadir's friendliness and extra effort, along with the people in Anamur's shops, will stick with us.

The owner and staff were kind and friendly, and if something in the room didn't work, they fixed it. The rooms were clean and the air conditioners worked. It's close to everything, and food prices around there were reasonable. The breakfast was there, and I filled up, though... it's a good-value place. It's very near the sea, but the municipality's park construction left a mess. If they'd worked in sections, there wouldn't be a problem; during the season there's no park, just ruins, which is bad for residents and visitors alike. I picked it for the experience :) and left satisfied. The main thing is getting a good result.

You can get to the sea quickly, and parking wasn't an issue. But some of the staff weren't friendly, and the breakfast was terrible. We went hungry for all four days. The rooms were mediocre too. They present it as a family atmosphere and say there's no alcohol, but all kinds of alcohol are actually available. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Parking and the short walk to the sea were the only real positives for me. The breakfast was a disaster: moldy olives, sour jams, greasy potatoes, spoiled watermelon, cucumber, and tomatoes. The bread ran out quickly, the tea was undrinkable, and there was no chocolate or pastry; the cheese choice was limited too. We were hungry each morning. Our large group asked to have the tables put together, but were told to sit at other tables instead. The rooms weren't much better: no kettle, old furniture, mediocre cleaning, and a handwashing tap badly clogged with limescale. In the other family's room, the hairdryer was broken and there was no soap. You have to ask verbally if you want the place cleaned. I was surprised by the glowing reviews I read beforehand; this hotel didn't live up to them.
