Alba Ankara Hotel

I’d give it three stars because the room really needed a proper clean. There was even rubbish in the bin from the previous guests, and the shower area, along with the rest of the room, wasn’t clean enough. The facilities were excellent, with a gym, sauna, steam room and Turkish baths where you could easily spend the day. The location is good and breakfast was very nice. Cleanliness was the only thing keeping this from four stars.

The service was awful, and I can't recommend this hotel. My room's AC didn't work, so it was unbearably hot. When I asked for another room or even a fan, they said the AC was off because it was already winter, despite it being 25 degrees outside. It felt closer to 40 inside. I was in Ankara in transit and wanted to see my friend for a few minutes. He wasn't going to stay, but the hotel wouldn't let him into my room, saying it was policy. Reception told me I'd have to pay 1000tl - 30$ for a visitor. When I asked why that rule wasn't on the site and asked to see it, the receptionist said they didn't have it. So apparently it was just something they said verbally. I've stayed in Ankara before and never had this happen at any other hotel.

Restaurants, shops, and malls are all within walking distance in Kizilay, which made Alba Hotel's location really convenient. My room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly. I had a fantastic one-night stay and would happily recommend Alba Hotel for a comfortable visit to Ankara.

Mr. Ismail was really kind and gave us the best service. The rest of our experience was frustrating, though. The night staff were rude, charged us 10TR for water that should be free for guests, and the butler switched off the coffee machine while we were getting coffee at the restaurant, even though I said I'd pay. Nobody seemed able to speak English, especially the night staff. English classes should be required for them.
