Berlitz Hotel

My room was never cleaned during the five days, and there weren’t any signs for Do Not Disturb or Cleaning Required. The bed linen smelled of smoke, and breakfast wasn’t included. When I asked for a same-size room with a window, they charged me extra. The staff spoke no English, so I had to communicate through a translator. The room was only four square meters, badly renovated, and had no proper window. There was a window opening straight onto a wall, and if left open, dust came in. The exhaust fan seemed to work in reverse, filling the room with a foul smell. I assume it had been a storage room before being converted. When I asked what I was supposed to breathe, they told me oxygen wasn’t included. It was extremely noisy, as the room used to be part of the hallway, with hotel guests and staff walking through the courtyard. You could hear everything. I’d avoid this hotel next time.

The room was spotless, and the towels were clean. We got a proper welcome and checked in quickly. Breakfast was pleasant and classic, with bread, assorted toppings, tea, and the like. It was affordable too, so we had a comfortable stay on a modest budget.

Just here for one night, and the room is so comfortable. Erdal and Erkan at the front office gave excellent service. I’ll be back.
