The good things were the view, the location, and the fact that staff called us a taxi whenever we asked. But the hotel doesn't deserve five stars, and I wouldn't call it a three-star stay either. The price seemed to depend on the receptionist's mood. We saw one rate online, then were quoted 40-50% more on arrival. At first they said only a smoking room was available. We paid extra for a deluxe non-smoking room with more space, but it turned out to be exactly the same size. There was dust in the corners, and the dim hallway light couldn't be switched off, so we had to sleep with it on. Breakfast was very meager, with hardly any hot or cold drinks. When we asked, they said drinks came from Starbucks and cost extra. The reception staff were below par. One young man was nice, but a young woman was somehow unhelpful.

I couldn't wait to leave. Staff were grumpy and unhelpful, and management took no responsibility. I asked for a non-smoking room but was given one that smelled of smoke. From the reviews, this seems normal here. Then I was moved to a room with a faulty light and a broken window that wouldn't shut. It was January, so I was cold, and the noise kept me awake. Breakfast was awful too: surly staff, mostly olives, not much else, no juice, and individual coffee only if you asked. I've stayed in much better three-star hotels. I'm now trying to find an email for someone senior in the group so I can request a refund.

We chose this hotel after driving from Istanbul to Ankara, and were willing to pay more for a five-star stay. We ended up staying just to make a point, but the service was poor and the room wasn't worth the price. The heating barely worked and the room was very cold, although at least it was quiet. We also found mold in the bathroom, unacceptable for a hotel claiming five stars. Our Istanbul hotel was much better in every way. I've attached photos so people can judge for themselves. At first the receptionist quoted 5,600 Turkish Lira for a standard room. We showed him Agoda and other booking sites listing a deluxe room for 3,500 TL, but he said they didn't accept those sites and only worked with Hotels.com. Even that site's price was lower than his first quote. He avoided eye contact and spoke to coworkers in his native language in a way that felt dismissive. My wife and I felt judged by our appearance and rental car, as if they assumed we couldn't afford the hotel. When I asked about their most expensive room, he seemed surprised, then quoted 8,500 TL and offered it for 7,200 TL. I agreed. When he asked where we were from after seeing our passports, we said Canada, and his manner changed immediately. He suddenly called the valet and urgently told them to help with the car. The difference was obvious and disappointing. Earlier, the valet staff had ignored us in our standard rental while focusing on G-Wagons, Mercedes, and BMWs. One attendant skipped us to park a Mercedes that arrived after us. Later, as we headed to the elevator, the valet suddenly offered help, which only made the service feel more insincere. The point is simple: showing up in a rental car doesn't mean someone deserves less respect or can't afford luxury. Plenty of wealthy people don't need to show it, as anyone who knows cities like Manhattan will understand. I don't recommend staying here. The staff were rude and judgmental, too focused on money, and the hotel lacked professionalism and class.

There are eŞarj and ZES charging stations, which is convenient, though staff handled their use poorly. We were told by the valet to use the eŞarj station for our EV. I parked and started registering for a session while checking in with our two children, but within minutes the valet insisted I either start charging right away or move the car. Meanwhile, we saw valet staff parking non-EV cars in the charging bays overnight. I've included photos. At breakfast the next morning, we found mould on the olives. That was a shocking hygiene and food safety failure. Across our road trip from the UK to North Cyprus, we stayed in 12 hotels, and this was by far the worst. Most stays were only one night, so there wasn't much chance for problems elsewhere, yet everything went wrong during our single night here. We had booked a Junior Suite at Metropolitan Hotels Ankara on Booking.com for two adults and our children, aged 7 and 8. Instead, we were given a Deluxe Room for two. Reception blamed Booking.com and said the hotel couldn't help. Their only suggestion was to cancel, which was impossible at 10:30 PM after 12 hours of travel with two exhausted kids. I asked for the duty manager and was told there wasn't one on duty, unacceptable for a five-star property. The supposed solution was to put two single beds in the small room. They were extremely uncomfortable and came without pillows until we specifically asked. The booking wasn't honored, the replacement was inadequate, and the communication, service, hygiene, and professionalism were poor. Staff attitude and training need work. I would not recommend this hotel.

Breakfast was good, though it could use more variety. The location and service were excellent, and the whole building felt stylish and comfortable. Our room was spacious, modern, and perfectly clean, and everything felt professional. We really enjoyed staying at Metropolitan Hotels Ankara and will definitely visit again for the cleanliness, service, and location.
