UK Ankara Hotel

The place is run down and dirty, with insects around and air conditioners that don't work. The food portions are controlled, too. The worst part was seeing the manager and some of the female staff mistreat and hit children. I filed a police complaint against them.

The breakfast floor has a great view, and the hotel has a lovely Ankara feel that makes you appreciate Atatürk and Cumhuriyet. The rooms are cosy, and the location is great.

It's clean, but the staff seem very inexperienced. For what you pay, it isn't worth it.

We stayed one night, and I hope I never have to stay there again. The hotel is old and needs renovation. There was no AC, so we had to sleep with the window open. The bathroom was tiny and dated, the shower ran both modes at once, and at 190 cm (6'3) I could barely fit on the toilet. The room we booked was supposed to be 36 square meters with a sauna. What we got first was about 20 square meters with just a shower. We had trouble getting the administrator to understand because nobody spoke English well. The bell boy spoke the best English and was the only one who helped. I raised it with the manager too, but he wasn't much help. Eventually we got a room in the right category, though it still only had a shower. The bell boy admitted the larger room was being renovated, but nobody had been honest about that. At least two of the night shift staff spoke good English. Service was poor, and the room we were first offered was below what we'd booked.
