The Marine Hotel

The one person who looked after us from the first day to the last was the friendly man at the bar. He deserves more than his salary, and he's the reason I gave one star. Apart from him, the room furnishings and reception staff left us very dissatisfied. The rooms are tiny, with a closet sized for one person, and the whole approach felt focused on money. Prices at the downstairs bar are very high. While my mother was showering in our room, the shower enclosure glass suddenly exploded and broke. Nobody apologized or even called to ask if she was all right. Instead, they demanded another 2500 TL. I didn't agree to pay. The receptionist said we couldn't leave without paying, so I contacted law enforcement and we filed a complaint. They may charge you if the shower glass breaks, as it did for us, but I don't think you should pay: tempered glass can break without excessive heat or cold, and that isn't the customer's fault. We've contacted the appropriate authorities. You may not be happy with your stay here. I wish they'd hired reception staff who were friendly, sincere, hardworking, and welcoming to the general public instead of people focused on a single nation. Employees represent the business, and a hotel receptionist is the hotel's brand. Other than the bar worker, it was a disappointment.

The marine hotel has a good location and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were very accommodating, and the service was good.

I liked the hotel a lot and will definitely come back. The sea view is lovely, and it's well placed for nearby attractions. Breakfast could be expanded, and the coffee and tea could be better. It's an amazing hotel, though not quite impeccable. I'd give it 8 out of 10.

We stopped for one night on the way to the Rize highlands. The hotel is about a 20 minute drive from Trabzon airport, with spacious rooms, a clean interior, and an amazing sea view. Breakfast wasn't fancy, but it was good enough, especially since there weren't many people around at the time. A decent overnight stop before continuing the journey uphill.
