Dedehan Otel

We liked the quiet that comes with being outside the city center. It takes around 20-30 minutes, maybe longer, to reach central Trabzon, but that distance wasn’t a problem for me and made it more relaxing. Arsin beach is only a 4 or 5 minute walk away, and there are plenty of restaurants and markets nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room had air conditioning.

Mohammed at reception was very supportive, and help was readily available. We rented an apartment with a sitting room, kitchen, and two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The rooms were a good size and clean. The blanket felt soft, but it wasn’t warm enough for the cold, so we kept the rooms heated to keep the kids from getting sick. One confusing point: Dedehan golden plaza and Dedehan suites otel are separate hotels about 150 m apart, and Dedehan suites otel was closed.

The breakfast had a good range, including several kinds of cheese, and there was hot water for washing. We stayed on the fifth floor, where the room was cold, and noise from chairs moving in the restaurant on the sixth floor kept us from sleeping in the morning and afternoon. It did get quiet at night. The beds and covers made us itchy, and we found an insect in the room. The bathroom had a poor hair dryer and no water drainage, so the floor was slippery. There was no bidet by the toilet. We asked to change rooms, but were told everything was full. I felt they didn’t want to move us, but we were only there for two nights, so what could we do? Honestly, the hotel was quite good in some ways.

The view of the black sea from the window was amaaazing, and the location is great. The workers were kind and helpful, with someone who spoke Arabic or English always available for visitors. Mr. Mohammed, I think, the English-speaking man in the lobby, was especially supportive and always smiling, which was pleasant for travellers. The rooms didn’t feel up to what I’d expect from a 4-star hotel, though, and some areas hadn’t been cleaned. Thank you.
