Assos Bohemian Hotel

I’m still craving the sarma, or stuffed grape leaves, four days later. The leaves were tender, not chewy, filled with fine minced meat, rice, and spices, then covered in hearty village tomato sauce with a spoonful of thick yogurt. We were a group of nine at the restaurant on a stormy April evening. There was a roaring fire and lots of activity in the kitchen. Before dinner, we got soft, fresh-from-the-oven bread with a hint of cheese to dip in local olive oil. Some of our group had the huge brick oven pizzas topped with fresh local ingredients, but I’d order the sarma.

We had the zucchini flower pizza and fettuccine Alfredo for lunch. The pizza looked so filling, it made you hungry just looking at it :). The pasta was great too, and the staff were really friendly. We enjoyed the meal, and it’s worth trying.

We tried the pizza and pasta while visiting Assos, and both were amazing. It’s definitely worth a visit. If you’re there in summer, you might get lucky and spot the owner’s little helper wandering around the cafe in an apron 😊

I’m not exaggerating, this was the best pizza I’ve ever had, even better than my experiences in Italy.
