Mia Toka Hotel

The pool and other facilities were clean, and the staff were lovely. A special thank you to Sena Hanım at reception, who helped us sort out every problem we ran into, and to Serkay Bey, the beach manager, who was incredibly friendly. The hotel is around 50 meters from the sea and has its own beach. Food was the weak point: although it’s full board, dishes sometimes ran out without being refilled, so don’t leave your meal too late or count on having something else to eat. For an overnight stay, though, the hotel is fine. I’ve seen some of the other reviews, and honestly, consider what you’re paying for. It’s about the amount of bread and meatballs you get.

The sea was lovely and warm, almost like a lake, and the hotel is right by the beach. We stayed from July 21st to the morning of July 25th, 2018, and were really pleased. I’d stayed at 5-star hotels before, so I didn’t expect much when I booked this vacation online at this price, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the food excellent. The pool stays cold until noon and warms up later, while the sea is warm all the time. With a car, you can visit Şeytan Tepesi (Devil's Hill) and Cunda Island nearby. Sarımsaklı center is 2-3 km away, and the boat tours to the islands from there are a lot of fun. Have a great vacation!

The beach is only 20 meters away, but it’s covered in huge stones rather than sand. Jellyfish come near the shore during the day, and one stung someone beside me. There’s no protective barrier. At meals, people rush the food, which I can understand, but then they tell you it’s all gone. Isn’t this meant to be all-inclusive? We agreed to stay knowing that, so what’s wrong with expecting it? The place isn’t terrible for a holiday, I suppose, but last year when I came with my family, the blonde woman at reception said they couldn’t take us to the bus terminal even though they had the means. I still don’t understand that attitude. There’s a smile when you arrive, but after check-in you’re treated like a cow. I’d like to say I was happy with the service, but I can’t.

The sea was awful, and hotel management charges 10 TL per person to rent sun loungers. Honestly, a tent would have made for a much better holiday. The family room was dirty, and when we turned on the air conditioner water dripped on our heads; turn it off and the room became a sauna. For three days there was chicken and bulgur pilaf, three hot dishes, five salads, and no dessert. You might even lose weight here. The pool is shaded by the hotel, and you hear sounds from all over your body like a presidential symphony orchestra. Bring water, towels, slippers, liquid soap, and even a light bulb. We asked for those things during our stay and nobody bothered us. Also pack a lantern and a water jug for the sink. I can’t bring myself to call it a hotel, but it’s the only place where you can be utterly disgraced for your money. I would have given it no stars, but apparently one is required.
