Mola Cunda Hotel

The garden and pool are lovely and peaceful, at least until children arrive, and the service is good. It’s conveniently close to the main town center without being too far away. I’d call it one of the nicest hotels on Cunda Island. I do think it’s a bit overpriced for what you get, but choices are limited and it’s a summer destination. If I come back to Cunda, this is probably where I’d stay.

The staff are excellent, breakfast is plentiful, and the pool area stays peaceful and cool. For a 3-star hotel, it’s quite nice, with clean rooms, though the shower cabins could use an update. Ground-floor rooms don’t really have a balcony, so drying things is difficult. Getting to the beach is a challenge, and prices there are high compared with nearby beaches. On September 3, 2024, a hamburger cost 600 TL and even a basic 50cl Tuborg beer was 300 TL. Still, it’s a lovely hotel I can recommend to couples or families.

We’d happily stay at Mola Cunda again. The staff’s response to the one problem we had says a lot: some rooms’ AC may have been affected by the hotel’s solar panels, I think. When we said ours wasn’t working properly, they moved us to another room right away, without any fuss. Things can go wrong at a hotel, but how the staff handle them is what makes a stay special. During our time there, we spent plenty of time lounging by the pool and having tea outside. The grounds are well kept, the hospitality is second to none, and the team really goes out of its way. Halil and Semeg (I’m sure this spelling is wrong) helped us with childcare, and Egeg was always ready with restaurant and sightseeing suggestions. Breakfast and all the food were fantastic, especially if you’re visiting from outside Turkey and want to try Turkish breakfast. The restaurant staff were also very accommodating.

The private beach is a ten-minute drive north of the island, and the hotel provides shuttles if you don’t drive. It’s a good beach, shallow and kid-friendly, shaded by big olive and pine trees. The hotel itself is by the sea but doesn’t have direct access to it. In the heart of Cunda Island, it feels wonderful, with fancy restaurants and busy streets just a five-minute walk away. The spacious rooms are beautifully decorated, with an architect’s touch and comfort considered in every detail. Neither the hotel nor restaurant is cheap, but you know what you’re paying for with B&B. Water, tea, and coffee felt overpriced, though, about as costly as at expensive Istanbul restaurants. Paying 6 TL for a small bottle of water as a guest was unpleasant. That would take half a star off for me.
