Tunan Motel

Decent place for a relatively low price. It’s a little away from the main street, though.

We researched quite a bit before booking and ended up feeling we’d chosen well. The hotel and beach are away from the crowds, which was great. The sea was a little cold but beautiful. Breakfast and dinner were both good and enough, though you’re not booking an all-inclusive hotel. Our room was clean, a decent size, and had been somewhat renovated. It could perhaps be redone and made more luxurious. The staff were attentive, and we were happy with a quiet, comfortable, clean holiday that covered the basics well. The bathrooms were a bit small, but that was okay.

We only planned to stay one night, but I hoped to extend it after seeing the place. When I asked that evening, there were no rooms available, so we had to leave after the one night. I wish we could have stayed longer. The staff were respectful, friendly, and good at their jobs. The hotel was clean, breakfast was tasty, and dinner was a buffet. I didn’t use the pool, but it looked lovely and clean, and they take care of it carefully. The sea and its separate beach are just five minutes away, with comfortable sun loungers. They kindly suggested another nearby hotel, which worked out, but this one is nice too. :)

For anyone planning a 3-4 day Ayvalık trip mainly for the sea, Sarımsaklı seemed like a good fit for us. The hotels looked much the same: close to the water, with beach sunbeds and umbrellas, half-board, and nearly identical prices. We picked Tunan Motel and were pleased with the choice. The rooms and hotel were clean, and the meals were good. Dinner’s local mezes were especially tasty. The young staff were attentive and clearly took their work seriously. We had a happy stay and recommend it. My one suggestion is to make the afternoon tea period longer. Please consider it :)
