We ended up having a really good off-season break, though we're easygoing travellers and don't need much. Anita Sunpark is a small, quiet, low-budget place with basic, worn facilities, and it doesn't seem aimed at British visitors. Most guests seemed to be Russian, and staff knew only a little English. The man who seemed to be on reception all the time made an effort, though he was a bit flirtatious and lecherous. Trying a few Turkish words went down well. The pool and garden were pleasant and clean, without loud Euro pop or an activities team pushing things like archery. The beach is about a five-minute walk, with a lovely mountain view from the water. You can hear a rooster from around 4 a.m. and the distant call to prayer, which made the place feel rural and distinctly Turkish. Wi-Fi costs €10 per phone for the week and was patchy depending on the room. There’s a supermarket across the road and plenty of shops nearby, but not many restaurants. Our bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked better than in some much fancier hotels we’ve stayed at. The room wasn’t cleaned at all during our week, and no one came in except us, so don’t expect fresh towels or elaborate towel arrangements. The bathroom often smelled of drains. The shower was hot and powerful, though we had to hold it because the wall fitting was broken. Water was off for a couple of hours now and then. There was no kettle or fridge, just one tiny bin inside, with larger ones outside. The plaster and bannisters were crumbling, and nothing felt luxurious. Meals were unfamiliar to us, with no toast machine or English breakfast, but we liked the hard-boiled eggs, gherkin salad, spinach yogurt, crusty bread, olives, mint, watercress, parsley, bean stews, sweetcorn, and aubergines. There was plenty of watermelon and plums too. The dining setup was more like a university canteen, with somewhat surly teenage boys serving and a grubby, chubby chef proudly gesturing for guests to help themselves. Drinks were basic: passable red or white wine and beer in plastic cups, until Russian guests complained and glasses appeared. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, and water came from self-service machines. The bar was open from 10 to 10. There’s something unusual and authentically Turkish about the hotel. Once we got used to it, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We paid almost £1,000 and felt badly treated. I won't book here again. People were stealing guests' belongings, and some were even wearing the things they'd taken. There was nowhere to put clothes, so we had to leave them in bags and suitcases. Most of the people here seemed to live at the resort. The room was filthy, with sockets hanging out of the wall. The bed was hard, the springs could be felt through it, and springs were sticking out of the mattress edge. My husband and I both cut ourselves on them. There was only a sheet to cover ourselves with. The shower room was rusty and unhygienic, the shower barely worked, and the water ran out, so by 5 p.m. there was none left for bathing. Staff were rude, and we were made to leave the pool when it closed at 7 p.m., even though music was still blaring at midnight. This was advertised as all-inclusive, but the only bar drink available on that basis was Efes beer. Towels cost £10 each, and Wi-Fi for two devices was £20. The children's pool wasn't working, and the hotel has no designated beach of its own. The food wasn't Turkish food. It was not accommodating at all.

The dining room was one of the biggest problems for us. It’s beside the hotel, with glass walls and a covered roof but no air conditioning, so having lunch there in the heat was exhausting. The food was repetitive and nothing special, with very little meat. The cakes were so greasy they practically dripped, though there was a large selection of salads. There were also lots of cats wandering between the tables while people ate. The hotel itself left a lot to be desired. We were first told a balcony would cost an extra 30 euros for seven days, then the price fell to 10 euros, despite the offer including a balcony and a promo room. Internet was supposed to be free in the lobby, but each phone needed its own password and cost 10 euros. At the bar, the only drinks were beer or wine. The beach is close, but not 100 meters away. To get there, you pass geese, chickens, and roosters. I didn't mind the animals, but the accompanying smell was unpleasant. The shore is rocky and sandy, rather than just sandy as advertised. Communication was difficult too. Maybe one person in ten understood more than a little English. During our entire seven-day stay, the rooms were never cleaned, and we got no fresh towels, sheets, or toilet paper. The hotel didn't offer any other amenities, and the pool closed at 6 p.m., after which swimming was prohibited.

The hotel sits in a beautiful spot, with mountain views in nearly every direction. The scenery from the beach is stunning, and the dining room is especially lovely in the evening. The sea is warm and clean, around 150 meters away, and there's a private beach with free loungers. The staff were so friendly and helpful, creating a cozy atmosphere. Special thanks to the owner, Akhmet. 🙂 Meals were varied and tasty, with lots of vegetables and delicious pastries at lunch and dinner. The bar had complimentary good wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee, and tea. There was often music in the evening, so you could choose a quieter mood or something livelier. A wonderful place to relax and great value for money. 👌
