Club Marakesh Beach Hotel

The room was fine, nothing luxurious, and the food was above average. Overall, it was an average hotel in most ways. The beach is rocky, though I realized most beaches there aren't very sandy, so sea shoes are a good idea.

The room and beach were both dirty. We found hair on the floor, toilets that wouldn't flush, and an air conditioner that needed a smack to work properly. There was also an empty cigarette packet on the balcony that wasn't ours, since neither my sister nor I smoke. We were given the room only after paying an extra 120€. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a good holiday. Honestly, I'd recommend it to my worst enemy, just to watch them hate me even more.

The rooms and beach were dirty, the beach chairs were broken, and the bathrooms were filthy and unhygienic. The team worked hard but seemed understaffed. Towels had hair on them, the old air conditioner was filthy, and the TV was tiny. There was too much noise, house flies, and the beer was the worst. No rules seemed to be enforced. At dinner, three privileged guests were specially seated and served the hotel's mediocre food at their table while hundreds of others waited in line to help themselves. This is a crowded hotel with a three-star certificate that may have come from blind or bribed officials. What more do you need to know?

The sea was the best part: crystal clear and warm, with an easy entry. The pool was nice and relaxing, though a bit warm, and the sauna was pleasant, if colder than I like. The lobby also made a great first impression, with its luxury look and welcoming staff. That's why I gave the hotel another star. But the contrast between that lobby and my room was like walking into a different, one-star hotel. I knew we had the cheaper rooms, but even for the price, mine was awful. The towels and sheets were stained, the bathroom was nasty, the appliances were old and falling apart, and the air conditioner cover came off when I tried to turn it off manually. We even found someone's fingernails on the bed. The smell was bad too. The closet wouldn't open, there was no hot water until it was fixed the next day, and the toilet leaked. The food has a lot of variety, but most of it is chopped vegetables with sauces like vinegar. It's plain, with no seasoning, and cilantro seemed to be in everything. The dining room had a strange, almost acidic smell that wasn't appetizing, though it may not be unique to this hotel. The beach can get crowded, and there was garbage at the bottom of the water and rocks on the shore. The free internet only works in the crowded lobby and is very slow. You can pay $2 per day to use it in your room, but that was still nowhere near acceptable speed, possibly because so many people were online. Ask reception for details. People here also seem to tip hotel workers after they help, so you could try that for better service. The hotel is in Turkey, but the town is full of Russians, Ukrainians, and others. Lots of shops have signs in Russian, and workers speak Russian too, though their English seems weaker. For the price, the experience was just meh, but I can understand it.
