The food was good, but the restaurant charged us over five times the prices shown on a menu from three years earlier, without telling us those prices had changed. At checkout, they said the menu was old. I felt scammed by this "five-star" hotel. We complained to the manager and eventually got a discount, which is why I didn't give one star. The hotel was very poorly managed and had no reception. In our room, the comforter had black lint, the walls had yellow stains, the carpet was dirty and poorly cleaned, and the curtains fell down when pulled. WiFi was only available in the restaurant area, and it was incredibly slow (

Deniz made my short stay special, especially during the low season in late November. The host was friendly and accommodating, and even let me check in at 1.30pm, half an hour before the stated 2pm time. The place looks past its best but still has charm. I felt like I'd been transported to a Transylvania Castle. I had dinner in-house and was surprised to find a small crowd and a live band. The singer was beautiful, and I really enjoyed the evening. It's within walking distance of the base of the Acropolis, where you can take the Teleferik up, and 350m uphill from the minibus station. That climb is a challenge, but the view from the top is spectacular. The only caveat is the narrow, uphill cobbled lane. You can climb it or take a cab. I'd definitely recommend the place.

We would have stayed here, but it was fully booked. We did have a meal, and it was the best place to eat in Pergamon, with terrific service from charismatic waiters!
