Akkan Hotel

I’ve stayed here three times. The beach is only about 30 meters away, and taxis, bars, and restaurants are close by. Rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is traditional, and they can store your luggage. The staff are kind and helpful.

The room had a noticeable unpleasant smell, and it seemed like other guest rooms might have had it too. I couldn’t tell if it came from the plumbing, ventilation, or something else, and the common areas didn’t seem affected. That was the main downside of an otherwise mixed stay. The spot right by the beach and marina made it easy to walk to restaurants, shops, and local sights, with lovely sea and harbor views. Sofia and the rest of the staff were especially welcoming and attentive, from the front desk to housekeeping. I’d consider the hotel for its location and people, but the odor in the rooms needs attention.

The location is the strongest point, with bars, shops, and restaurants nearby. The entrance looks modern and smart, but there’s no lift, and every bedroom is reached by a narrow stone staircase. It seems the owners once set out to make a quality boutique hotel, using good materials in the bathrooms, doors, and fittings. Now, though, the rooms, especially the bathrooms, are disappointing because of poor cleaning and a lack of regular maintenance. It could be a luxury boutique hotel again if the owners inspected the rooms and invested in fixing the broken parts. As things stand, it doesn’t live up to that name.

I found Akkan Luxury to be one of the worst places I’ve stayed, more like a hostel than a hotel. The so-called economy rooms are in awful condition, with no window, fresh air, or hygienic atmosphere. I’m concerned they could be harmful because of bacteria. Officials in tourism should inspect this place. The rooms cost about as much as better rooms at other hotels, with no big price difference, so I can’t recommend staying here. It feels like throwing your money away.
