The place feels neglected, as if it hasn't had maintenance in over 15 years. The rooms are uncomfortable and stay too bright, there's no minibar, and even fresh sheets have lots of stains. The pool isn't cleaned. The internet is poor, no one speaks English, and the owner isn't friendly. There's no restaurant, just a small bar that doesn't have everything, and they add extra charges if you need something from outside the hotel. Reception shuts after 1 AM. For this location and level of service, the price makes no sense. It was a bad stay and I wouldn't recommend it.

We got no room cleaning during our three day stay, even though we asked for room service in the morning. They said they'd replace a towel within an hour, but it never happened. With two kids aged one and two, we needed hot water for their food, and the woman asked us for 200TL for a glass. We went out and bought a kettle instead. The room was so cramped that the entrance door wouldn't open all the way, and the wardrobe doors hit the bed. At check in we were told we'd be on the third floor and staff would help with luggage. They did help then, and we paid 50TL, though we carried some bags ourselves. At checkout they complained that our luggage hurt their backs, then asked for 500TL to help. The staff were rude and focused on money, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. About your reply: you didn't give us even one glass of warm water, you asked for 200TL. We had specifically asked about a kettle when booking through booking.com, and if you'd said you wouldn't provide one, we wouldn't have booked. We asked for luggage help for the third floor at check in and at checkout, and were told you'd help. At checkout, the same person first made excuses about too many bags and a sore back, then five minutes later said he would move them only if we paid. As for the noise, other guests were singing loudly around 3am-4am and repeatedly opening and shutting doors. We understood people may have come back from partying and didn't complain. If that makes us selfish, then yes, I guess we are.

The insect nets on the windows were one of the room's only good points, and there was hot water in the bathroom. Everything else was a letdown for the price. The room lock was broken and even the employee who walked us there struggled to open it. The windows were dirty, a curtain hung badly, the beds were old, and the sheets had holes. There wasn't even a sheet between the person sleeping and the blanket. The bathroom curtain was torn, hanging halfway off its rings, and nothing on the floor stopped shower water from flooding the room or someone from slipping. The toilet seat hinges were barely holding. We asked to see other rooms, but none had a bathroom window or fan. One had a little window that had been cemented over. The bathroom fixtures were rusty, mouldy or chipped. On our second day, the air conditioner started dripping onto my bed and the floor. The whole property was shabby, dirty and badly kept. Even the entrance sign looked terrible. I wouldn't recommend this overpriced, unhygienic place to anyone.

My check in was meant to be at 2pm, but when I arrived at 4pm I still had to sit outside with my case in the sun for another hour waiting for the room. They said they didn't speak English, which seemed true, as I had to use translate just to ask for water. Why advertise to British visitors if they can't understand us? The room was awful. Its door couldn't open fully because a wardrobe was in the way, so you couldn't get in with a large suitcase or pram. That seems like a health hazard. The floor looked 10 to 15 years old and was disgusting, and the double bed mattress was mouldy. After five days in Gumbet without a problem, I got bites on my first day in this room and had never seen anything like them. I took photos for the authorities but won't post them here, the bed bugs were horrifying. In the bathroom you shower on the same floor as the toilet, and if you're not small, you're practically showering with it. I've visited Gumbet several times a year for 10 years, and this was easily my worst stay. The place badly needs to be shut down or refurbished.

The air conditioning quit at 2am, so we had to spend the rest of the night using fans. Nobody offered any goodwill gesture, and I had to take it up with booking.com to get a partial refund. The stay was terrible. Check the attached pictures to see what the rooms are really like.
