The owner got my room wrong, then blamed me when my friend and I tried to sort it out. After I'd paid, he was rude and basically told us to f#%k off. When I asked for a refund, he left me to handle everything myself and abused me on top of it. The rooms were terrible too. I wouldn't recommend this place, and I don't think it deserves an 8.3 rating.

We chose this hotel after reading reviews that made it sound hospitable. The receptionist was kind at first, but after an hour the owner's son had taken over. We asked for a second chair because there were two of us and only one in the room. He said they wouldn't give us another, since every room had just one. We had paid before arriving, and it felt like they thought the money was all that mattered. The young receptionist was playing on his phone and didn't even look at us. I've worked in tourism for four years, and I know how to bring a hotel's stars down through 11 tourism agencies. If the owners don't know how to serve guests, they shouldn't be in this job. It's shameful. Being a cheap hotel in Gumbet doesn't mean you should treat people cheaply. Never trust this hotel.

The workers felt like one big family, and they were all really nice. We ate well too: the breakfast was good, and the food was tasty and inexpensive. The views were amazing. This was the best hotel we stayed at in Turkey, and if we return to Bodrum, we'll definitely stay again.

After a long bus ride from Ankara, my friend and I reached Gumbet early, but couldn't check in until 2 pm. Before we arrived, we'd specifically asked for a balcony room because we're smokers and were told it wouldn't be a problem. Then the owners said the room we wanted cost extra, even though the online listing said “room with balcony.” They blamed us for not reading properly, despite us showing them the deal. The argument was handled very rudely, with children in the foyer. The owner raised his voice, verbally abused my friend, and became aggressive, standing up while she tried to hold her ground. We didn't feel safe and asked for a refund. He said that since we'd booked online, we had to deal with it ourselves. A horrible experience, and the hotel's hygiene was questionable too. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

A lovely, affordable place with easy access. Most attractions are close enough to reach on foot, and the owners are really great people.
