Etema Otel

The hotel is centrally located, though the areas around the old clock tower and museums are nicer. In November 2023, a single room cost 400 TL and a double was 800 TL, breakfast included. We were there for two nights for a sporting event. Mr. Ali, one of the employees, looked after us personally and we appreciate his effort, but we wouldn't stay again. Smoking was allowed by the owner, staff, and customers in the shared indoor areas, including the entrance hall and breakfast room, an open-air mezzanine, as well as in the rooms. Ventilation didn't get rid of the lingering smell. The rooms had very basic amenities for a price-performance hotel, and they were cleaned. A hairdryer was missing, but they brought one when asked. The bed was fairly comfortable, which deserves credit, but both the sink and shower drains clogged and filled up immediately. The boiler broke on the second night, leaving the shower water cold. Nobody noticed until we pointed it out, and they called a repairman that night, but the water only heated again the next day. I had to shower cold after returning from the race. We would have looked for another place if we could afford it. We expected cleanliness, a smoke-free atmosphere, a comfortable bed, and hot water. My friend's room door wouldn't lock and the TV was broken. Breakfast was standard for the price. We're vegan, so we brought our own supplies, and we could get tea from the kitchen when it was available, which was convenient, thank you. A neglected hotel without money for necessary maintenance can't be rescued by one employee. We also heard that the heirs plan to sell it, so perhaps they don't intend to invest.

They didn't give me the room I'd booked on Obilet for 520 TL when I arrived at 3 a.m. for my military service, hoping to get some sleep. Instead they asked for another 500 TL. I was exhausted, so I paid and went to bed. Breakfast was listed as included, but it wasn't, and there wasn't even drinking water in the room. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

They charged a different price from the one shown online, and the experience was awful all around. What I stayed in felt like an apartment building, not a hotel. The room was terrible and nothing like the online pictures. They'd put two single beds together and called it a double. Cleanliness was very poor, especially in the bathroom, and the walls were awful. The bed was terrible too, and the wardrobe shelves were broken. I was misled by the internet and made a huge mistake. Definitely NOT a hotel!!! Just an awful apartment building.

We were very happy with everything at the hotel, and Mr. Cemil is a wonderful person. When you call, ask for Mr. Cemil and book without hesitation. His presence made the place feel safe and like a real family atmosphere. The cigarette börek was amazing too. Thanks to Mr. Cemil and the staff. 🙂
