Troia Pension

Our experience up to then had generally been positive, which made this especially disappointing. Across the restaurant, souvenir shop, pension, and camping, the prices were exorbitant and came with a strong sense that tourists could be ripped off. It only takes one experience like that.

We paid about 1500 TKL (around €35) for two nights camping. For that price, it was basically a tent in someone's garden, with dog mess and scrap bones on the grass. There was no shade, so mornings were sweltering. Laundry wasn't included either, and the owner was quite unfriendly. Ridiculously overpriced.

The location is excellent for visiting Troy, directly across from the museum. But we paid 1000TL, and nobody was around when we arrived to explain the price. We didn't see anyone until the next day. There are no showers or dumping stations, and dogs barked all night.

The lunch portions, and breakfast too, were sized for little kids. Lunch was poor, with only two choices and no price list, so it felt like the owner could charge based on your job and where you're from. Check the different booking platforms before staying, since the same room has different prices. The rates are very high for the service provided. Be careful with this pension, and spend your money at other local restaurants where you get twice as much food for half the price.
