Garden Inn Cappadocia

The viewing deck has a swing where you can watch the sunset, and the area felt safe to walk around at night. There's a small shop about a five-minute walk away for essentials. We were lucky to have snow during our stay, so the weather was cool, and the room heater kept us warm. The rooms themselves were fine, though the lighting was dim; you can ask the staff for an extra standing lamp. The service staff came across as unfriendly, with no smiles or manners when speaking to us. We just put up with it, maybe that's their style. Cat lovers should bring extra cat food. And don't miss the jeep ride, the scenery was amazing, and the operators were pleasant and friendly. They also helped take photos for us. We gave the operator a tip at the end for the great service.

There was a wedding at the hotel, and the very loud music went on until midnight. I couldn't rest or get a good night's sleep, so I don't recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere quiet. If they're holding an event like that, the whole venue should normally be closed to other guests.

The place was cool and pleasant, but meal choices were limited and the cleanliness could be better. We were two women put in a ground-floor room with no fan or AC. You can ask for a fan, but the window faced the main road, so someone could easily climb into the room.

The restaurant was a highlight for us: lovely atmosphere, superb staff, and some of the best food we had anywhere. There were plenty of healthy vegetarian choices. The Nevshehir style kabob and vegetable casserole were great, and all the vegetarian dishes were tasty. We didn't even wait to take photos when the food arrived. But skip the expensive Cappadocia kebab the chef suggested. It was mostly thin French fries, with a little dried meat and garlic yogurt on top. The inn sits in a beautiful garden and feels simple, natural, elegant, and quiet. You can choose a cave or stone room, and the style really does give you a sense of living in the old days. There was no elevator, fridge, or AC in the room, but the toiletries were generous, the bathroom was well built, and everything worked. A nicely organized wedding in the garden with light music added to the stay. Oktay at reception was especially helpful, and his English was the best we heard in all of Turkey.
