Best Of Uzungol

The room wasn’t the one I’d booked, and I didn’t feel secure: neither the door nor the windows could be locked from inside. The owner spoke to me in Turkish during booking, but my problem never got resolved. Water was leaking onto the toilet floor; I suggested ways to fix it, but they only came and shut off the water supply. Communication was poor, and reception was rarely available, with the language barrier adding to the management problems. I booked two nights, stayed one, and cancelled the second, but didn’t get a refund.

We spent about a week here in four rooms on the top floor. None of the room doors could be locked from inside, and the balconies couldn’t be locked either, so we never felt secure. The rooms weren’t cleaned and the towels weren’t changed. After two days, we discovered an expensive watch was missing. We spoke to Mohammet, the 17-year-old who greets guests. He said he checked the cameras, but his answers didn’t make sense, and he laughed it off by saying Spider-Man had visited. We told him we’d go to the police if needed, and Mohammet returned the watch a few hours later.

The owner and his family seemed ready to help us around the clock, and the hospitality was amazing. The atmosphere was great too. If you know Residence Inn, this is the closest comparison I can think of. Highly recommended, 10/10.

Of all the places I visited, including Istanbul, Cappedoccia, Trabzon and Pamukalle, the best hotel and people were in Uzongol. They welcomed us warmly, and Mr Saleem brother and his son Muhammad were always ready to help whenever we needed something, even arranging a taxi for a tour. Best hotel ever.
