Bilsu Cesme

We’d barely managed to find a room on one of the busiest weekends in Cesme, and since we mainly needed a place to sleep, we didn’t pay much attention at first. The closet hangers were dusty, so I couldn’t hang up my clothes, and the bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied. Apart from those two things, nothing else went wrong. I’d looked up breakfast places before we arrived, but the hotel breakfast was so filling that we ate there both days. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and we had an enjoyable stay. We recommend it.

We had a car and picked this hotel because it was the best priced option in the area. Kocakarı Beach, Dalyan Beach, and Palmiye Beach are all within walking distance, and the water is fantastic. Parking wasn’t a problem. The hotel provides breakfast only, and I’d rate it 8 out of 10. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and always nearby. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable, and it had air conditioning and a TV. The toilet was clean and worked well. The only thing we missed was a mini-fridge in the room. The breakfast was the big draw for us. It came with honey and clotted cream, and it was surprisingly good for the price. For the same spread at a Çeşme restaurant, I don’t think you’d pay less than 80-100 TL. The hotel staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help, even preparing food for our baby during the busy breakfast service. Thanks again. Our only problem was a group of young people at the garden tables, shouting and laughing until midnight. Staff warned them, but they were staying in the room next to ours. They slammed their door loudly back and forth in the middle of the night, as if they’d never heard of a door handle. Our child couldn’t sleep until midnight for two nights. It was bad luck, but I’d suggest families with babies ask for rooms facing the road instead of the garden. For Çeşme, the hotel is excellent value.

The hotel is reasonably priced, though we didn’t find the breakfast as extravagant as some people had said. We booked three nights and paid a one-night deposit, but told the owner that family health issues might stop us staying the other two nights. He said, “You shouldn’t have come at all,” and wouldn’t let us in unless we paid for all three nights. Every room was occupied, and when some people asked for a room, he said he would have sold it. If it had been a busy period, I’d have understood his position. But we were upset that he was so insistent about payment while the rooms were empty. In the end, health reasons meant we had to leave a day early.
