Lavinia Garden Alaçatı

I booked through hotels.com 20 days ahead and checked the reservation several times, but the hotel cancelled it two days before my vacation, saying there were no rooms. If we hadn’t checked our email, we might have learned that only after arriving. The woman I took to be the owner kept hanging up on me and criticizing my tone, when I was only asking them to address the problem. She said the hotel was part of a group with five hotels, but that did nothing to help sort this out. On the phone, she blamed the cancellation on the website overselling and said three other bookings had been cancelled too. Later she said she might somehow arrange a room if I checked with her. It feels like they leave you stuck so they can sell the same room for much more. They still aren’t answering my calls, and I’ll do everything I can to seek justice.

I eventually cancelled and got my money back, though it took a lot of effort. We found a nicer, more comfortable hotel and checked in there right away. Our birthday plans had been for August 30th, but around 9:00 AM that day, the owner called to say the ceiling in our booked room was leaking and that, because of the date issue, we’d be moved to another hotel. I told her I hadn’t paid for that other hotel and didn’t know what it was like. It had no pool, and the facilities sounded quite inadequate. She told me to accept it or cancel, so I felt trapped and agreed just to avoid more embarrassment. The place she suggested was awful, tucked away in the back streets of Alaçatı, with nothing going for it. I cried from frustration on my birthday. Is that really how you treat someone on a day like that? I suspect they used the leaking ceiling as an excuse because it was August 30th, Victory Day, a public holiday, and wanted to sell the room for twice as much. We first went to Lavinia Garden, which looked nothing like the pictures. It has a tiny garden and pool. Anyone planning to go should know that. They ruined a special day I’d paid for, and I’ll never forgive the woman who owns the place. May God punish her as she deserves. I don’t accept what happened and leave it to God to judge her.

The place felt disturbing from the start, and we ended up having to leave after a terrible stay. The hotel is incredibly small, and the rooms were in awful hygienic condition. There was a musty smell as soon as we walked in, mold on the walls, and it looked like nobody had cleaned. It’s hard to feel comfortable, let alone healthy, in that. DISGUSTING!!!! I’d give it zero if I could. The manager was the most disrespectful I’ve ever encountered. I stayed respectful despite his rude tone, but he didn’t return that courtesy. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. How does a hotel like this get a 3.6 rating?

It was late by the time we had to find another hotel, and our plans for the evening were ruined. We’d booked through Hotels.com and went straight to the hotel, but just as we arrived a woman called to say there was no room because of a system error. Don’t bother coming, she said. At the same time, I had a friend call, and she was told there was one room left for over 3,000 TL. When I brought that up, the woman said, “Come with the police if you want.” 3,000 TL wasn’t worth that kind of disgrace. This place is greedy and disrespectful. Avoid it.
