Hotel Caktug

We booked at the last minute after our flight was changed. The taxi driver told us it was a hotel for refugees, and the streets felt really creepy when we arrived. There wasn’t enough lighting around the hotel, so the place felt like a scene from a scary movie. The beds were awful and we couldn’t sleep. The sheets smelled of cigarettes, and the bathroom had a smell I can’t really describe. I wouldn’t recommend it, even for a few hours.

A health hazard! We had to leave in the middle of the night and sleep in the car. We lost our money because the owner pressured us into paying upfront. There was mold, cigarette smell, noise, and dust. A definite no, and we’re really not fussy.

If all you need is a cheap place to sleep, Çaktuğ is a solid option with good value for the price. It’s in the town center, so you don’t need a car to reach it, and it takes about the same time to get to the airport as from Lykia Airport Hotel. I stayed at Lykia Airport Hotel before, and Çaktuğ’s beds were much more comfortable. The room was cleaner than I expected: the sheets weren’t fancy, but they weren’t dirty. The hot water, which matters most to me, was hotter than at the airport hotel. Çaktuğ also has central heating, a real plus during Dalaman winters, while the other hotel didn’t. It’s cheap, too. Keep expectations modest. This is more of a town motel than a proper starred hotel, and it isn’t fancy, even if the Airport Hotel looks that way. The open shower has no curtain or glass, and sound carries between rooms. Still, everyone slept at night, so the noise wasn’t a problem for me. For a solo overnight crash, I’d go for it without hesitation. If you’re with family, or even a partner, the bathroom could make the stay less comfortable. For a budget night, though, Çaktuğ offers a great price-to-performance ratio.

I had a poor stay here. The hotel was expensive and unclean. My room had lots of small cockroaches, and the bed was full of bugs. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want a miserable night.
