Tsira Hotel

We stayed for four nights. The breakfast and location were quite adequate, but the service and room issues left us unable to recommend the place. We had a dog and asked for cleaning after the third day, as the note we were given instructed. The first response was, “You're leaving tomorrow anyway,” as though we should sleep in dirt just because we were checking out the next day. After a lot of pleading, they only changed the sheets. When we returned, the hotel towels that weren't hanging, the foot towel, and the bath mat had been taken away and not replaced. Without the foot towel, almost everything got wet. The air conditioner was there, but it was very inadequate. At home we only use low AC even on very hot days, but this was a summer house and it was extremely hot, so we left it running. We were told to turn it off whenever we left the room. Since it took so long to cool the room, coming back to switch it on meant sitting in awful heat. Everything in the mini-fridge cost extra, so we put our own drinks inside and moved the minibar items into the wardrobe. After the room was cleaned, we got a strange, sarcastic response along the lines of, “You read the cleaning rules, but didn't see that you're not supposed to empty the mini-fridge?” The rules also said to unplug the fridge if we weren't using it, and we couldn't understand why unplugging it was allowed but putting our things inside wasn't. The rules made no sense. We left all the room items exactly as we found them. I believe a successful business depends on customer satisfaction, and unfortunately we weren't satisfied.

Evenings in the garden were lovely, with swings to sit on and beautiful stars overhead. We watched the sea and Ovabükü through the flowers and trees, and the view was amazing. Breakfast was good, complimentary appetizers were offered, and you could order more of anything you liked. Mr. Nazım and his brother welcomed us so warmly and were attentive to all the guests. His brother's food was delicious: the dumplings are homemade and worth trying, and the fish was very fresh. Mr. Nazım goes out and selects it himself. Prices were reasonable too. There's also a mischievous cat called Kara, who never bothers you and is always happy to get a little treat :)

The rooms were spotless, with fresh linens and a clean kitchen area, and the view was magnificent. It was our first visit to Datça, but the warm welcome made us feel like we'd been coming here for years. When our son got sick, Nazım and Jale looked after him like he was their own and did everything they could. If you want to feel at home, this should be your first stop. You'd miss a lot of Datça if you didn't meet Nazım and Jale. God willing, we'll return next year for a longer stay.

We felt completely at ease about the cleanliness, and the location puts all the bays very close. We want to thank Mr. Nazım and Ms. Jale for being so attentive. This is somewhere you can stay without a second thought in Datça, and I'll definitely come back here.
