The summer events give visitors a chance to experience Anatolian culture, and there’s a family-friendly boutique hotel, Loru Han, built in Seljuk style. The place feels like an oasis out in the steppe, where the stones seem to speak. The museum’s awards are impressive: European Museum of the Year in 2021, the European Union Cultural Heritage Award and a special award from the Turkish Ministry of Culture in 2022, then the “Tourism Design Grand Prix” at the European Design Summit in 2023. It’s somewhere to see, experience, and really take in.

Morning walks and music by the fireplace in the evening made this stay especially memorable. Loru Han was prepared with care in every room and corner, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum gave our visit a moving story about returning to our roots. Kenan Bey, his wife Sibel Hanım, their son Furkan, and his sister Öznur Hanım welcomed us with wonderful hospitality. It’s a special place that should be seen and experienced.

We felt more like we were visiting relatives than staying at a hotel. The Yavuz family looked after my wife and me with such warmth and smiling faces, and made our weekend away feel meaningful. The food and the facility’s location were fantastic. The Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum is well worth seeing, and their work to preserve Turkish culture and values deserves support.

The regional food, made by people who know their craft, is something I’ll remember. Staying at the hotel also lets you experience the spirit of the Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum. It brings together the past and present, people and nature, culture and art in a way that makes it far more than a museum. Thanks to everyone behind this careful, heartfelt, one-of-a-kind cultural project. It felt like an Anatolian fairytale.

The rooms were comfortable and very clean, and naming them after characters from the Dede Korkut Stories is a lovely detail. My wife and I were there for our anniversary. The museum itself is beautifully designed, with stone and wood used thoughtfully. Breakfast took a while even though there was nobody else at the hotel. It was already 10 am, and we had to mention we were about to leave. It was ready half an hour later, with plenty of filling food, and the menemen (Turkish scrambled eggs) was excellent. I’d definitely recommend visiting the museum, though the hotel service feels a bit weak for the price. Given the location, the price could be more reasonable. Many thanks to Kenan Bey, his wife Sibel Hanım, especially Furkan Bey for being so warm and friendly, and everyone involved.
