Demre Apart

We got to Demre at night and found that the Airbnb we'd booked had been illegally occupied. The second hotel was fully booked too, even though our payment had gone through, so we were redirected to winecity Hotel. It's not the fanciest place, but the night staff helped us with everything, which we really appreciated. Thank you :)

There wasn't another hotel nearby, so we had to stay. When we arrived around 8 p.m., reception told us there was no hot water and wouldn't give us a discount. They'd seen our booking but hadn't warned us beforehand. The dirty windows, stained carpets and partly worn furniture weren't the main problem. It was worse than any hostel, since at least hostels have hot water.

The staff were friendly, and apart from the bathroom issue, the room was clean. There was some water left on the toilet seat, probably from cleaning, but it was still disgusting. The bathroom smelled bad too. Breakfast was disappointing after we'd gotten used to the kind served at nice family pensions.

The rooms are clean, but the street noise comes straight through the windows, making it completely impossible to sleep. The Wi-Fi is tragically bad.
