Irbec Apart & Bungalow

We had a really enjoyable stay at this bungalow hotel in Demre. The bungalows were spotless and had modern furnishings, and we enjoyed the pool too. The owners and staff were very hospitable and helpful. I’d stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

We booked a bungalow for one night for me, my pregnant wife, and our two young children, but when we arrived the receptionist wasn’t there. A woman told us to wait five minutes, but it was about 25 minutes before she started taking us to a room on the third floor. We explained that we had booked a bungalow, and she said there’d been a mistake and the bungalows were occupied. We couldn’t take three flights of stairs with my pregnant wife. She then remembered a room on the second floor, but we turned that down because there weren’t enough beds for the children. The woman in charge said bookings could be for either a bungalow or a room, depending on availability. We said that didn’t seem right because the prices differ and we had reserved a bungalow. They showed us another room, but it smelled awful and had used slippers lying around. We asked to cancel, and they first said they couldn’t do it and that we had to cancel ourselves. Since that meant we wouldn’t get our money back, they offered 600 TL, then 800 TL, which we accepted because the price was around 900 TL. They shouldn’t have tried to avoid responsibility and make it seem like the mistake was ours, as if we’d have accepted any different room. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

We rented this lovely self-catering place in Demre for two nights. The flat felt fresh and new, was sparkling clean, and had a comfortable bed. The pool is tiny, but clean and relaxing after a long journey. The people working there were kind and helpful, and suggested the Neshko Kekova tour, which we took.

The photo of the pool in the listing says it all. The bungalows were in terrible shape and seemed cheaply put together, and lights plus curtains that wouldn’t close properly meant the room couldn’t get dark. There were mosquitoes everywhere, perhaps because of the stagnant pool. Staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
