Avşa şirin apart

The biggest problem was how little room there was. Three beds filled the small room, leaving nowhere for suitcases, and the kitchen and combined bathroom/toilet were cramped too. With a very small child, it was hard to fit in the bathroom. The kitchen was dim, lit only by light spilling in from the living room, and its ancient two-burner stove barely worked. The dishes weren't usable as they were: there were only four forks and four spoons, all greasy and poorly washed. The kettle was covered in limescale, there was no coffee maker or coffee pot, and only three cups. The balcony was tiny and mostly enclosed, with no side opening for a breeze, so we never sat there. The TV, an old 37-inch tube model, didn't work, though there was Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The sheets were clean, but there was no real cleaning, and dead flies had been left on the toilet door. We came because three friends recommended this cute apartment, but honestly, we weren't satisfied. Check-out was set for 11:00. We asked Hacer Hanım for some leeway because we had children and our ferry wasn't until 4:00, and asked whether there was availability. She said the rooms needed cleaning and another guest was coming. We left at 11:00 and waited on the terrace until 2:30, but no cleaning had happened and no guests arrived. Other places give an extra hour or two when nobody is coming for several hours. There are better places for what we paid. We didn't know the options on our first visit, and I wouldn't recommend this establishment or return.

The location in Avşa is convenient, since the island is small and the İDO, market, and beach are all close by. I'd return to Avşa, but I wouldn't stay at a cute apartment again. We booked the building for a weekend after friends recommended it, and weren't happy. Everything except the linens was dirty, the dishes were greasy, and the faucet wouldn't give us hot water, so we tried rinsing things with cold water. The TV was out of order, and the kitchen had too little equipment for four people in a four-person room. The bathroom and toilet were combined, and even getting my 5-year-old in there was a squeeze. I've stayed in plenty of apartments before, and this one disappointed me.

After seven years of coming to Avşa each summer, I finally found a place I was happy with, thanks to a recommendation. Aynur and Hacer are warm, attentive owners. This was a wonderful stay, and from now on I'll choose this apartment whenever I'm in Avşa.

This was our first visit this year, and we loved the place. It's a comfortable, affordable family business, set away from Avşa's crowds but still not too far from İDO. The owner, her mother, and her daughter, Ms. Aynur, were all sweet and helpful.
