Halley Hotel

The hotel is handy for both the train station and bus terminal. The manager speaks English and helped me sort out a problem with my booking, which I really appreciated. The bed was okay, though the blanket felt a little thin for us, and breakfast was good. The toilet facilities are quite old; renovating them would make the hotel much better.

For a fair price, this is an okay place in a great spot near the train station. The staff were nice and accommodating during my one-night stay. The main issue was awful, inconsistent Wi-Fi. I should have asked for a non-smoking room when booking, because the bathroom smelled of smoke the whole time.

We had no luck getting help with our complaints, and the language barrier made everything harder. Staff couldn’t or wouldn’t speak English to us, though we were visitors from abroad. My wife and I were given a room that hadn’t been cleaned: the beds were dirty and seemed to have been used by people before us, if you know what I mean. There were odd scratches on the shower floor that made it look permanently dirty. The air conditioning didn’t work in the Turkish heat, the internet was slower than a snail, and insects kept appearing even after we removed them. We were also led to believe laundry was included in the price, only to learn on the second-to-last day that we had to pay. The charge was so high it was unimaginable, almost what several extra days of stay would have cost. We had a bad experience and definitely won’t return.

The bus station right beside the hotel made it easy for me to get elsewhere. My room was tidy and clean, the staff were friendly, and check-in and checkout were flexible. Breakfast was included too. I enjoyed my stay.
