We got some lovely honey and jam from the family, and they suggested visiting Kulakaya and mavigöl lake, both beautiful spots. The huts were warm and easy to get to, with a beautiful view, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner. Kamal and his cousin were so helpful and kind, and his mother was lovely too. We stayed two days and had a beautiful time.

We cooked on the gas stove in the cottage, and when the weather allows, you can bring your own meat and the owners will barbecue it for you. They also bring a nice breakfast in the morning and are really helpful people. It's a rustic wooden house in a beautiful mountain setting, with a wood-burning stove and cattle bells in the distance. Not luxury, but a fun escape for couples or families. Everything here feels just right.

The chalet sleeps up to six on two levels, and its open layout means you'll want to get along with each other. It's also a handy base for seeing the region. We loved the homemade Kuymac, a cheesy butter dip, and breakfast felt genuinely local. Kemal and Muradiye were wonderful hosts and went out of their way for us. From the bungalow, which is really more of a chalet, the mountain pastures and snow-capped peaks make for a breathtaking view. There wasn't snow at the chalet in November, but we're already looking forward to coming back in midwinter and sitting by the roaring wood burner.

We enjoyed being surrounded by nature and having nice company, which was what we came for, and the views are stunning. Still, renting the lower part of the house had some downsides. We wanted to interact with locals, but there was no proper sitting area, just a space that seemed used for storage, with folded mattresses, pillows usually used outside, and a hammock. The sheets and towels were very clean. The new cooker had no gas cylinder, though Kamel brought us camping gas when we asked. There's no fridge, and the washing machine wasn't connected to water or electricity, so it couldn't be used. Kamel speaks good English, which is a real plus in an area where most people communicate only in Turkish. The cottages looked cozy, though I can't say what facilities they have. Getting to the house or cottages isn't easy.
