Crystal Kaymakli Hotel & SPA

Good drinks, friendly people, and a warm feel to the place. A fantastic bar, and I’d go back if I’m in town again.

The hotel has potential, and the renovations in progress may help it improve. It was very clean, and I appreciated the fruit and wine welcome gift. Thanks especially to the night staff, who handled a problem with my safe quickly and professionally. Breakfast was a weak point, though: the selection was quite limited, and fried eggs would be a welcome option for guests from Spain or similar cultures, especially since the kitchen and staff are already there. The younger breakfast room staff could also be more attentive and service-minded. It wasn’t my favorite stay, but with more breakfast choice and attention to service, the hotel could be a good option for many travelers.

The food choices were limited for the main course, though there was more variety in salads and desserts. Even those options ran out quickly, so choices became limited again. My friends and I were trapped in the elevator three times on the first evening, so we carried our luggage up the stairs after that. The hotel feels old, with an old smell throughout, outdated rooms, and an old mattress. There was no tea or coffee in the room. For a hotel rated five stars, that rating feels like a joke. It needs a complete renovation, and right now I’d call it two stars. I don’t recommend it.

The wait staff were friendly, which was the bright spot. The hotel is far from town, with nothing to do nearby, and the surrounding area smells strongly of cow dung and urine. Food choices are very limited, and you can’t buy or order anything in. Reception wasn’t much help. It is near the hot air balloon site, though I’m not sure that really counts as a plus.
