Kartel Hotel

I stayed here myself and everything was as it should be. For the price, this is a great family hotel. The location, staff, and management were all excellent. If you want more, look at more expensive places. Ignore the bad reviews and don't hesitate to go.

We checked out today, and I can't understand the glowing reviews calling this place clean and good. You have to pay extra for water with meals. I didn't question the charge, but it was strange, and when I looked into it, other businesses seemed surprised too. The food portions were small, there was little variety, and during our three nights there wasn't even a dessert. The tables had only salt, no other seasoning. This isn't somewhere I'd want to pass by again. I do want to thank the staff for being attentive and helpful.

We were unsure about booking because there weren't many detailed, recent reviews, but our stay was better than expected. We only included breakfast and stayed two nights. It was buffet style with, I think, 15 or 16 different items. The food was tasty, the plates and glasses were clean, and anything that ran out was replenished. It was probably the same spread both days. There weren't stale or poor quality items, and you could go back for more. The pool stayed quiet despite the number of rooms. At some points we were the only ones there. The hotel was generally peaceful, and our room was clean, despite reviews I'd seen saying otherwise. It had a good bed, large wardrobes, and an old but working air conditioner. There was hot water around the clock and a hairdryer, but no shampoo or shower gel, so we brought our own. The minibar was empty, and there was no kettle, coffee, or water in the room. Plenty of markets are nearby, and you can buy cold drinks from refrigerators on the ground floor. This isn't comparable to expensive hotels, but it's a good fit if you want a reasonable price, a pool, breakfast, and to be near the sea. We'd stay again if we return to Didim.

We stayed five nights, and I wouldn't recommend coming for dinner. The rooms were clean, though they were cleaned every two days. Breakfast was normal, and tea was the only drink included. Water and other drinks cost extra. The main problem was hygiene in the dining area. They couldn't keep up with washing plates, so plates were just rinsed with water before being brought back out. One morning there was egg residue on them. There was no one overseeing hygiene, and although we complained repeatedly, staff didn't pay much attention. Most guests seemed unhappy too. The food itself wasn't terrible, and the evening meal tasted good, but there was only one dish. We understand you can't expect lots of variety at this price. Still, on our second day they served rice that had gone sour, made the day before. I'm a cook, so I recognized it immediately, but they disagreed. We don't expect five-star standards, but clean plates and cutlery are reasonable, and sour rice shouldn't be served. If the hotel won't be properly managed and supervised, it shouldn't be run as a hotel. Otherwise, raise the price a little and provide decent service.
