Wyndham Garden Diyarbakir

The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated, and the food was fresh, tasty and hard to stop eating. There was a generous range of Turkish dishes and food from around the world. The staff were polite and eager to help, though English sometimes got in the way. We had a lovely stay at Wyndham Garden.

The beds were fairly comfortable and the rooms were clean, but at over 200 euros for two rooms for one night, this felt disgraceful. There are much cheaper places nearby that seem to offer better service. The main problem was the air conditioning. It was off throughout the building when we arrived, and the rooms were 30.5 degrees Celsius. Staff turned it on after we asked, but it barely worked. When we asked for a fan or anything to cool us down, they said the AC was working fine and that Diyarbakir is a hot city. That wasn't a reasonable excuse, since we'd stayed in a hotter city a few hours south and the AC there worked well. During the night it was switched off again, and the room temperature rose from around 28 to 30-31 degrees. The photo was taken the next morning after a night of the AC supposedly working. It seemed they were keeping the central AC off to save money, and staff were rude when we raised the issue. We were also promised rooms overlooking the Tigris River, but could only see trees, not the river. We were told the Hamam bath closed at 10, yet when we went down at 9 the doors were locked and nobody was there. Stay away.

I had a delicious, freshly cooked Ramadan Iftar at the hotel restaurant, and enjoyed the Suhoor meal there too. My room was well furnished with excellent amenities, and the view was good. The staff were kind and helpful. One of the best hotels I've ever visited.

This was my final hotel on my holiday in Van and Diyarbakır, and everything was amazing. There's huge underground parking, the rooms are well equipped, and the hotel staff are incredibly welcoming and professional. Thank you for everything!
