Grand Aga Hotel

I really enjoyed staying at Grand Ağa Hotel. The staff were friendly, smiling, and always ready to help, and everything felt safe and comfortable. The hotel is beautiful, with an incredible view of Mount Ararat. Excellent service, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Avoid this place. A cleaner walked into our room without knocking. Someone else in our group said the same thing happened to them; the cleaner opened the door without saying anything and hit his elbow, leaving him in pain. I complained to the managers and they apologized. When I asked why she had entered my room after it had already been cleaned, they said they hadn’t told me about the room change. That still didn’t explain why she needed to enter a clean room. We worried about theft and refused room service, then told the managers we didn’t want anyone coming in until checkout. Employees smoke outside. The hotel’s front door doesn’t work and has been blocked off, so guests have to take a huge step to reach a side door. The air conditioner kept switching itself off, and each time we had to call someone to turn on a switch so we could use it. The motion sensor was awful, leaving the bathroom dark all the time. Most of the food was boring and bland.

A one-star rating feels too generous. Everyone in our group had bedroom problems: the air conditioning didn’t work, bathroom leaks, very little toilet paper, and a sparse breakfast. Our faucet kept leaking after staff came to “fix it.” After we got caught in a hailstorm, we asked about washing some clothes and drying our boots. They promised everything would be ready early the next morning, but nothing was ready for us to use. There were too many other problems to list. The employees were willing to help, but management was awful and wouldn’t even apologize. They took only a small amount off our bill. Stay away, or you’ll regret it.

Good location and clean rooms. The reception staff were friendly and helped us print our visa application forms.
