Gure Termal Resort

It wasn't too bad.

The room had plenty of space, and the bed may suit you if you prefer a very firm mattress. But there were no spare pillows, sheets, or blankets, and no dishwasher or cleaning supplies. We were told to buy our own things to wash the dishes. There weren't any paper towels, napkins, or other paper goods either. The Wi-Fi was terrible. We changed rooms hoping for a better connection, but it still worked only now and then. They said it only works in the lobby and on phones, not laptops. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Parking was easy, and I was glad the hotel was so quiet during my February 27th to March 1st stay. The indoor heated pool was clean and empty, and the balcony looked out over the pool. The room was nicely warm and cleaned very well. Massages were good, and breakfast was enough, though nothing fancy. Dinner had just one dish, so I skipped it and ate lunch and dinner nearby. Bring your own slippers, robe, swimming cap, and loofah for the pool, or you can buy them there for 50-150 lira. A few things didn't go well: there was no internet, the shower water was only lukewarm, and reception didn't pick up when I called at 10:15 PM. I'd been a little wary after reading the reviews, but my experience turned out different. I'd happily return and recommend the hotel.

We left early, and the refund was handled without any trouble, thank you. The hotel has a nice location and roomy rooms, and hopefully they'll sort out the shortcomings. The room cleaning was good, and the technician who checked our heater was helpful, as were the reception staff. Still, as someone who's been visiting thermal hotels for 10 years, I found the comfort and temperature issues hard to overlook. The corridors were cold because the heaters weren't working, and even spa staff wore coats. We usually find thermal pools overwhelmingly hot, but this one was at ordinary pool temperature. When I asked if they could heat the water more, I was told it came that way from the source. If cold water can come from the hammam, doesn't that water come from the source too? We chose the place because the men's and women's hammam pools were separate, but the sauna was mixed, and the women's hammam toilet was closed. We weren't very happy with the spa. The kitchen was disappointing too. Breakfast was somewhat better, but they could add gözleme, other fruit juices, or perhaps simit. The food options were very limited, with turkey every day, as if they'd stocked up on it in bulk :) The appetizers were okay, but there were no desserts. The kitchen generally needs work. There wasn't much to do at the hotel: no game area, billiards, live music, or afternoon tea. Live music on some days would be nice. There seem to be broader management issues. We usually aren't people who look for faults, and I thought the negative reviews sounded exaggerated, but there's a lot of truth in them. And remember to bring your bathrobe :)
