The Erzurum Hotel

We were there for a short stay and really liked the atmosphere. We visited in early April, with snow falling and beautiful mountains all around. There were two issues: plugging in the kettle cut the power to the room, and on iPhone devices the internet login page took about five minutes to appear.

The rooms were large, which was a real plus, and the hotel was very clean with a great view. Breakfast was good, there was outdoor parking, and a free shuttle ran to the ski slopes. The walls didn’t block much sound, though, and WiFi was difficult to connect to. One night I called the lobby to ask for a toothbrush. The person who answered said they didn’t speak English, so I had to use Google Translate to put my request in Turkish.

The room and breakfast were both great, but the staff came across as unfriendly and seemed annoyed. I couldn't tell whether it was a language issue or something else, though it didn't feel professional. I had chosen the place because of the free shuttle to the ski resort. At check-in I learned it wasn't running, and when I asked about getting a taxi, all I got was, “I don't know.” I had to sort it out myself. 😔

After a full day skiing and snowboarding, it was lovely to come back to tea, homemade soup, and tasty sweets. The shuttle driver was patient and helpful, and the service to the slopes was handy. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very affordable. Staff were warm and gracious throughout. Ela Nur always greeted us with a smile and paid close attention to what we needed, and Ufuk, who runs the dining room, was great at anticipating things too. A wonderful stay at Erzurum Hotel.
