Marcan Resort Hotel

There was plenty to do around the area, and we had some really good kebabs and clams. The resort pools were clear and tidy, and I enjoyed my stay. Staff were lovely: MehMet made the tournament games entertaining, with prizes like sweets, accessories, and shirts, while Erin at the bar was friendly, made good drinks, and was great to talk to. Our room was clean, and housekeeping came twice a day. They were polite and efficient, and even if you turned down cleaning, you could still get free water. Thanks for the stay!

Mehmet really put his heart into the job, always ready to help and make everyone's stay more enjoyable. He was the standout for me. I spent 10 days at the hotel and was very happy with the experience. It's clean and has what you need, and the cleaning staff were cheerful and did their work properly. Service in the dining room and bar was excellent too. Thank you for a lovely time. They're great people, and I highly recommend the hotel. Leave them a tip! xx

We had a wonderful four days at the Marcan. I'd read some negative reviews beforehand, but our stay was nothing like those accounts. The food was fresh, delicious, and had a great range of dishes. Our room was spacious and well equipped, with a lovely balcony, and it was spotless, cleaned daily with fresh linen every other day. The pool area was great, with beds and parasols always available. There's also a second pool with slides and a lovely spa. Afternoon and evening entertainment was professional and didn't get in the way, even though it's not usually our thing, and things were quiet by 11.30. Reception and the rest of the staff were helpful and very good. We'd recommend it, it was amazing.

The breakfast omelettes and fried eggs were a real highlight, cooked fresh by friendly chefs. The garden was pleasant and often being cleaned, the location was good, and we had glorious weather. Our room had excellent air conditioning, a working fridge, and good hot water and pressure in the shower during the afternoon and evening. There were plenty of sunbeds around the decent-sized pool, so we never had to rush in the morning. Cleaners came daily when we put the right note on the door. There were several problems too. The room, especially the shower room, wasn't clean when we arrived at 5am, and the toilet seat was broken though usable. After we raised it at reception, cleaners came the next morning. There's no sink plug, apparently hotel policy, and only warm water in the morning, which made shaving difficult. We booked a double but got two single beds pushed together, and the double bedding didn't fit. There's no kettle. The shower plinth is easy to stub your toe on when walking to the sink, especially in the dark after using the toilet. The safe costs extra despite the usual valuables warnings. The internet was fine for five days, then stopped completely for the remaining six. There wasn't much information about the fault or when it might be fixed, and lots of people were annoyed. I had to pay roaming charges. My partner got very sick with vomiting and diarrhoea after we'd been at the hotel for two days, so we suspect it may have been the food. We heard of others with similar symptoms, and some offered us their medication. We needed fresh linen in the middle of the night, and the night porter who brought it asked for money. Drinks are available all-inclusive from 10am to 11pm, but they're local brands that leave a lot to be desired. There's only a bar by the pool, plus one in the restaurant at meal times, and outside the restaurant drinks come in plastic cups. The hotel really needs a comfortable bar where proper glasses can be used. Food was average apart from breakfast. There were good salads and a decent but repetitive selection of desserts. Leftover vegetables appeared at the next meal as part of the salads, and the meat was mostly chicken or turkey. Staff weren't especially friendly, though there were some clear exceptions: the young lad at the pool bar, the entertainment man, the omelette chefs, and the man running the snack bar area. Reception could seem friendly and helpful, but when we started complaining they turned against us quite quickly.
