Hotel Sea Door Hotel

The location was great for shops and Calis beach, and the local Lidl became our best friend. When you buy things from local people, they treat you like family. Most people were friendly, which was a nice change from the negativity I experienced in the UK. The apartment was extremely basic: no shelves, no proper space to prepare food or even simple sandwiches, and nowhere to sit and relax. If you book one, think of it as a bed for two or three people, nothing more. The balcony faced a busy road with bad drivers and near crashes, which just added stress. Drivers seemed totally bonkers and couldn't drive or park, so be careful walking near the road. Some of the food staff were rude, while others were only tolerable. Most seemed uncaring. At reception, the woman stared too much, and the young guy with glasses answered questions I hadn't even asked. I'd go back to Calis, but I'd stay at a different hotel.

Lovely location with a sea view and good value for money. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

The food is really, really nasty.

We chose this hotel through a holiday tour, and the spot opposite the beach was lovely. The stay itself was a mess. Our room wasn’t properly maintained: no shower door, water came in when we switched on the air conditioner, and moving the beds revealed dirt and other people’s belongings underneath. There was no lock on the room door at first. Staff said it was fine to sleep that way, but after we insisted, they fitted one the next morning. There was no daily cleaning, and when we asked, there wasn’t even a shower available. We were on the same floor as staff, who banged doors and shouted so much at night that we couldn’t sleep. Meals were limited to the tour’s set options, the food had no taste, and the plates and glasses were dirty. We couldn’t bring ourselves to eat. We went there to rest and left more exhausted. Such a beautiful location, but I wouldn’t stay here again.
