Foca Kumsal Hotel

The location is good, but our first night was awful. We didn't get the room we had paid for, which was meant to have a balcony facing the side street. Instead, there was only a small window. The staff then moved us into a tiny room with two single beds, and the shower and toilet were squeezed into one little space. We stayed for two nights.

I had to cut my six-night trip down to two because of a family emergency, otherwise I would've happily stayed longer and enjoyed those daily sunsets. The little hotel has a warm, genuine feel. It's at the quieter end of the fishing village, with a short narrow beach that was the best spot for swimming, away from the fishing boats and right in front of the room. The town and fort are an easy walk away. The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable, just above the cafe. Gazme is a lovely owner, and Ibrahim was kind and helpful. He even lent me his own bicycle. Breakfast is downstairs at the pretty, cute "Follow The Cat" cafe, where the house cat is called Sun. The Mediterranean-style spread had fresh vegetables, olives and toast, and was more than enough. On weekends they had a big brunch buffet.

The owners were super friendly and helpful, and breakfast was awesome. We got a side view of the sea from our room, which was great. We only stayed one night in a budget-friendly room, which was small. The rest of the hotel was full, even in mid-September. The one thing we didn't like was a very strong smell in the bathroom, and we don't know what caused it. We hope to come back next year.
