Ali Bey Konagi

The location made it easy to walk to museums and restaurants, and parking was simple. Our family of six really enjoyed staying at Ali Bey. The gated courtyard helped us feel safe, the rooms were comfortable, and the whole place had a lovely charm. The staff took great care of us, and breakfast each day was delicious. Thanks, Ali Bey. We hope to return!

Near Gaziantep Castle, Ali Bei Konagi has a lovely inner courtyard and very clean rooms. The staff were polite, and breakfast included tasty traditional local food. I'll definitely come back to this historic place.

The hotel's setting in a wonderful old building in the market area is part of its appeal. It has a large courtyard where you can sit for tea in the evening, and the location is very good. The staff were helpful and cheerful. None of them spoke English during our three night stay, but we managed well enough with Google Translate. Breakfast was a tasty Turkish spread: burek, olives, jam, kajmak, honey, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, and either an omelette or boiled egg. There was parking in front of the building. A couple of things were inconvenient. Payment at checkout turned out to be accepted only in USD or EUR, and the foreign card I'd used all week in Turkey didn't work. We were advised to pay cash because foreign cards could have problems. We used a different card in the end, but the currency conversion made the final amount almost 40 EUR more than the booking.com reservation. We also paid 600 TL to have a few T-shirts and underwear washed, but the clothes came back too damp to dry in the room.

The historic architecture is gorgeous. Staying here felt like going back a hundred years, though the hotel is very old, its design is mind blowing. It was also very clean and clearly well cared for. Ali Bey Konagi sits right in the heart of the old city, with the old markets and plenty of other places within walking distance. The staff were wonderful and cooperative, and I honestly felt they were like family rather than just hotel staff. Thanks to everyone there. The one weak point was the Wi-Fi in the rooms. The thick brick walls weakened the signal, though it worked well in the hotel's public areas. For all these reasons, I'd recommend this hotel.
