For the last day of our stay, construction noise was so loud that nothing could block it out. Another big issue was cigarette smoke: although the hotel is completely non-smoking, we suddenly smelled thick smoke at 1:30AM. I’m pretty sure the front desk didn’t even check after I called, since we heard no talking or knocking. We stayed two nights and paid about $100 a night. At the listed minimum of $220 a night, this place would be a complete scam. I think AirBnB is a much better, and probably cheaper, choice if you want somewhere nice. We didn’t try the restaurant. The room was average, nothing special or luxurious. I’ve had much better rooms at a Holiday Inn Express. Some bathroom lights were broken and flashed suddenly. The air conditioning was extremely weak, and the beds weren’t very comfortable, though I think they were clean. Nothing was outright broken. The shower controls were finicky: the sink and rain shower had extremely high pressure, while the handheld shower was barely usable because the pressure was low. It took me about 10 minutes to get hot water working, though that may depend on the time of day. The handheld shower only ever had cold water. The staff were professional and provided quality valet parking for free. That’s about where the nice parts ended for me. Maybe it’s a four-star hotel on a good day, but absolutely not a five-star. Pretty mediocre.

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in the city. I was very disappointed with the service and cleaning. Either many of the reviews are fake, or the hotel has somehow been losing its success lately. The owner was sitting in the lobby during my stay. I asked the morning bellboy if that person was the owner, and he said no. We later found out it was the hotel owner, who seemed afraid we’d complain about the team’s behavior. My advice is to hire at least one staff member who speaks English. The morning shift was the worst; you could put them on nights, since they don’t do anything productive. Suzan on the night shift tried her best, but Meriam ruined everything with her bad behavior.

The hotel is right in the city center, with all the famous places within walking distance. It has a great atmosphere, attentive staff, and clean, luxurious rooms. A good option for both business and tourist stays.

The staff are what really make this place. They’re professional, friendly, and always helpful. I was staying here during the 2023 earthquake, and although they and their families were affected, they still came in to look after the hotel’s guests. They made sure we had food and water, even when those became harder to find after a few days. I was deeply impressed and touched. Kadir is especially kind, regularly going above and beyond to help me feel at home. I’m very grateful and look forward to every stay. I travel to Gaziantep regularly for work, and after a few unsatisfactory stays, I was lucky to find the Tuçgan. It’s a lovely, quiet hotel in a very central location. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the higher floors have beautiful views, and so does the rooftop restaurant. Breakfast is lavish, and the restaurant food is excellent.

The location worked well for us, just north of an old neighbourhood and about 15-20 minutes from the old city and market areas. There are plenty of groceries, pharmacies, and restaurants nearby. Our room was lovely, comfortable, and very clean. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant and breakfast, and both were very good.
