Selçuk Apart

I stayed in an apartment I found on Google in August 2025, and the price was about the same as other places on the island. If it had been cheap, I might have put up with the condition, but it wasn’t. When we arrived the floors were dusty, and the sofas were faded and had cigarette burns. We brought our own bedspreads and used theirs to cover the sofas. There was a fire sensor, and I was glad they told us not to smoke inside. Still, I wondered if the sensor had been added because of the state of the sofas, which they left as they were. We had to ask for a mop and broom to clean up after unpacking. The kitchen was missing pot and pan lids, had too few plates and no dinner plates, and lacked a rack for drying dishes. Some things we asked for arrived right away, others the next day. The island is windy, so we also needed clothespins for our laundry. I got tired of asking for missing basics, but there was no nearby market or grocery store, so I still messaged them. They saw my message and didn’t respond. It felt like they expected us to accept the shortages and manage. The bedroom light didn’t work on the first evening, and neither did the bedside lamp. We ended up replacing some missing things ourselves. Since we’d paid in advance and wanted to avoid unpleasantness, we carried on with our usual routine. I’m not writing this just to criticize, but being left without a reply after they’d seen my message felt very disrespectful. I wanted to share what happened so others wouldn’t go through the same thing. Have a good holiday!
