Melin Otel

We were visiting from out of town, and my friend and I booked two rooms separately around midnight. It was the middle of winter, but neither room had working air conditioning or radiators. We went to reception for help and were told to wait a little while because it would be sorted. They just brushed us off and didn’t seem interested in helping at all. What a mess.

The room was roomy, and the bathroom was clean and pleasant, but the heating wasn’t enough. The TV didn’t work, the safe wouldn’t lock, and although there was a cordless phone, I couldn’t find the internet password. There’s no breakfast or similar. It costs 1900 TL, which feels steep for a generally neglected hotel.

Being close to the city center is a real plus. The rooms are clean and quite large, and the staff are so cheerful and helpful. A special thanks to Meryem Hanıma. I travel all over Türkiye, and I can honestly think of this as my home in Gölcük.

I’m on the road for work and stay in all kinds of cities, and this place can feel like home in Gölcük. It’s close to the bazaar and beach, with markets easy to reach. The rooms are cleaned daily and drinking water is topped up regularly, even compared with many higher-star hotels. Reception always greets me with a smile. Ms. Hülya, Ms. Dilara, Mr. Ahmet, Mr. Buğra, and of course Mr. İlhami all do their best to make sure guests get good service. Thanks to them all.
